Butt Implant (Buttock Implant) *

Both men and women frequently look to re-shape and enlarge their gluteal regions, commonly known as the butt or buttocks. Butt augmentation can be achieved with fat transferred from other areas of the body or, for a permanent solution, this shaping and enlarging can be done with implants.

Although butt augmentation with fat known as BBL or Brazilian Buttock Lift are very popular, recent studies warn patients and doctors about unusually high risk of the death from pulmonary embolus. Butt implants do not share that high risk.

People in every walk of life from bodybuilders to runway models look to plastic surgery and gluteal implants to achieve a natural-looking buttock that balances well with their other proportions.

Some men and women are born with a body type that does not develop a proportional, rounded butt, while others have, due to aging, lost the mass and shape connected with the area.

Offering the only permanent solution for aesthetic gluteal augmentation, buttock implants can be placed either within the gluteus maximal muscle or on top of it. The advantages and disadvantages of each will be discussed with you during your consultation with our surgeons. Buttock implants come in a variety of sizes and are either round or oval in shape.

About procedure

Buttock implant surgery is performed at our surgery center with the patient under general anesthesia. The operation takes about 2 hours and most patients can return home the same day.

The incision through which the implants are placed is made between the buttocks where any scar will be hidden from view.

Sometimes fat grafting is added to the procedure to improve the final outcome and liposuction may also be used to help with the contouring.

The gluteal implants are usually placed within the muscle. However, for larger implants, it may be necessary to put the implant above the muscle. Your surgeon will have go over this with you in detail before the surgery.

After the implants are put in place, your surgeon will suture the opening.

You will be asked to avoid prolonged sitting for several days after the implant operation. You will experience significant discomfort and will be given pain medication as needed to help you through the first few days.

Most patients require two to three weeks recovery before returning to work and other normal activities.

A high level of surgical skill accompanied by the aesthetic sense of an artist is needed to bring out the most natural-looking body implant results.
